Summary

This free tool scores leads pulled from any startup funding database, Crunchbase, PitchBook, or a press release, by funding stage, days since announcement, and vertical fit. Enter the four inputs and get a 0-100 score, a plain-language recommendation, and a ready-to-paste search query to run in your funding database of choice. The scoring weights are a transparent heuristic built from common B2B buying patterns, not a black box and not a claim to real-time funding data.

Turn a Startup Funding Database Into a Ranked Prospect List

Paste stage, timing, and vertical from Crunchbase or PitchBook. We score the lead and hand you a search query, not a black box. No signup, no fake real-time database, just a transparent ruleset you can check against your own funding list.

Score your funding database lead

Pick the stage, days since the round, industry, and what you sell. The score updates as you type, and we generate a ready-to-paste search query for your funding database.

How the score works

Three inputs, no black box

Timing fit, 50 points

In the first two weeks after an announcement, most of the round is earmarked for closing costs and backfilled roles. The buying window tends to open around day 30 and start closing again after day 120, once the leadership team has already picked a stack for the next 12 months.

Stage budget fit, 30 points

A Series A company making its first real tool decisions behaves differently from a Series C company with an established procurement process. The score weights the stage, not just the round size, because a $40M Series C often means slower purchasing, not a bigger budget line for your category.

Vertical fit, 20 points

Sales and GTM tooling lands differently in a SaaS company than in a fintech company still finalizing compliance software. The score adjusts for what you sell against the vertical you're targeting, so a dev-infra pitch scores higher against a devtools startup than against an ecommerce brand.

One image, three outcomes

Every lead you score sorts into one of three piles: work it now, nurture it, or park it. No spreadsheet formula, no CRM field to maintain, just a number you can act on the moment you pull a name from a funding database.

Common questions

Is this a real startup funding database?
No. We don't host or index funding rounds. Pull the company and round details from Crunchbase, PitchBook, or a press release, then use this score to decide if it's worth an hour of outreach today.
Where do the scoring weights come from?
We built the timing, stage, and vertical weights from common B2B stack-buying patterns growth teams describe in outbound communities. We haven't run our own purchase-panel study, so treat the score as a prioritization heuristic, not a guaranteed conversion number.
Is this free?
Yes. The score runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere except an anonymous, IP-free ping that tells us the tool was used.
Why does a fresh Series A score higher than a two-day-old announcement?
In the first two weeks, most of a new round is earmarked for closing costs, backfilled roles, and vendors already under contract. New tool budget tends to open up around day 30.
What do I do with the generated search query?
Paste it into Crunchbase, PitchBook, or Google News to pull the list of companies matching that stage, vertical, and time window. The score tells you which of those companies to work first.
Does this replace Crowd Scope?
No, it feeds it. Crowd Scope doesn't track funding rounds either. Once you have a ranked list of funded companies, Crowd Scope finds the named people at those companies already describing the problem you solve on Reddit, X, or Discord.
Can I save my score?
Bookmark this page after filling the fields, or copy the generated query text. There's no login and nothing is stored server-side.
Why not just build a real, searchable funding database?
Because a live, queryable database needs a server, a paid data feed, and constant updates, none of which belong in a page that runs entirely in your browser. We'd rather point you to Crunchbase or PitchBook for the raw data and give you an honest way to prioritize what they return.

You've got the company. Now find the person.

Crowd Scope doesn't index funding rounds. It finds named people on Reddit, X, and Discord describing the problem you solve, so outreach starts with a real quote, not a guess.
